Myth #1: The Perfect Workout
The biggest myth in fitness is the "perfect workout" myth. While many gyms, fitness equipment manufactures and infomercials claim that they have a product that will offer you the perfect workout, the simple truth is everyone's perfect workout is personal. As long as you can exercises for 30 minutes daily, you're doing your own perfect workout.
Myth #2: Women Shouldn't Lift Weights
Many women skip weight training because they fear they may "bulk up." This is simply not true, as most women do have enough testosterone to grow big, bulky muscles. Weight training can actually help women lose weight, tone their muscles and increase the density of their bones, which can help prevent Osteoporosis.
Myth #3: Workouts Should Be Exhausting
The person who can barely take a step after sweating out hours and hours on the treadmill or the gym member who screams to complete that last rep are not who you want to emulate when working out. While workouts should be challenging, training to complete exhaustion is not an effective or necessary way to get in shape. 30 minutes of moderate training is plenty for the day.
